Thursday’s Good Reads – Issue #1 -18/8/16

The first instalment of a new weekly blog here at Walk the Talk Fitness / Cut the Crap Headquarters…

I am going to gather up a few great reads and possibly some amazing videos for you guys, my readers – based on the questions I get asked regularly in my free group and via Facebook.

I’m hoping to answer some of your questions by sharing blogs from my peers and colleagues as well as my own – to give you a better all round understanding of fitness, health and nutrition.

This week, I’m starting with a blog that explains more about NEAT – which I spoke about last week in a Facebook Live broadcast…

ARTICLE OF THE WEEK

WHY YOU NEED TO CARE ABOUT NEAT

“It’s the calories you burn through involuntary actions like twiddling your thumbs while sitting down or tapping your foot while you’re at your desk, as well as those burned from everyday actions you don’t think about too much.”

This article covers Non Exercise Activity Thermongenisis or… the importance of staying active even when you’re NOT exercising (when it comes to fat loss).

Check it out here:

Second article of the week comes from Body Type Nutrition and covers a topic that a lot of people seem confused about – calories.

Do we need to count calories to lose weight? Should we be concerned about them or should we just be trying to eat healthily?

“When it comes to weight management we can be in no doubt that 24hr energy balance is the single most important factor. In other words, if the energy that you absorb from the food you digest exceeds the energy you use through activity your body will store the excess, mostly in the form of body fat.”

Troy Martin from Body Type Nutrition answers this question here:

That’s it for this week guys – check back next Thursday for some more great reads….
