Protein Pancakes for weight loss and fat loss

Perfect Pancakes

I've been working on pancake recipes for as long as I've been working as a nutritionist! I love pancakes - preferably the traditional Scottish ones, but let's be honest - they're not the healthiest! I've made a few protein based pancake recipes before (you'll find the vanilla ones in Cut the Crap - No Bullshit Cookery 2) but I wanted to make a new recipe that was completely free from dairy and whey based protein powders. Mostly because I'm intolerant to whey protein - so you could say these are selfish pancakes. 

The protein powder I used for this recipe is from Pulsin - it is their pea protein blend which is totally plant based and is unflavoured, which suits this recipe perfectly. Order from the Pulsin website and enter code RWAT10 at checkout for 10% off. 


1 banana

1 egg

1 tablespoon agave nectar (I use Groovy Food Co.)

2 tablespoons of Pulsin Pea Protein

1 teaspoon coconut oil

Squirt of Sweet Freedom Choc Shot​


Mash the banana with a fork in a jug of some sort. Whisk the egg and agave nectar in and then whisk the protein powder in. 

Heat a frying pan over a high heat with a teaspoon of coconut oil, turn the heat down to moderate and fry the pancakes for around 1 minute each side ​until cooked through.

Serve with some fresh fruit and a squirt of Sweet Freedom Choc Shot (I used their chocolate orange flavour)

Macros: Protein: 18g / Carbs: 43g / Fat: 0.4g

These are absolutely delicious served straight from the pan, but also keep well in a tub and eaten cold later. Great for on the go food prep meals and snacks.
