According to a quick Google search,
Fitness Magazine defines ‘Clean Eating’ as:
“…a deceptively simple concept.
Rather than revolving around the idea of
ingesting more or less of specific things
(for instance, fewer calories or more protein),
the idea is more about being mindful of the food’s
pathway between its origin and your plate”
Pretty accurate description,
to be honest.
stop worrying about calories and macros
and just be more mindful about eating food
that has had less processing from origin to plate….
But is it truly fair to say that simply by ‘eating clean’, you will lose weight?
It’s actually NOT that simple at all.
Let me break this down into two part…
1. Yes – it’s a good place to start both for your weight but also for your health.
Of course it’s tonnes better to flood your body
with the nutrients from fruit, vegetables, lean meat, fish, eggs, nuts & seeds…
than to fill it full of processed junk…
but in the long term,
you will at some point need to become concerned with calories – IF you want to continue losing weight…
2. Some typically ‘clean’ foods such as nuts, are very dense in calories, even for a small portion size.
You CAN over eat ‘healthy’ foods.
if you’re not careful, and you start eliminating things from your diet needlessly,
you could put yourself at risk of becoming goddam obsessed with it!
I am speaking from personal experience here…
alone, is NOT the answer to long term, sustainable weight loss….
You will end up restricting your diet of the foods you love, for fear they will make you put weight on….
which will put you at risk of binge like behaviour…
A little secret about me…? I never once in my life ‘binge ate’ until I started a clean eating program.
Stuck in that:
eliminate –> restrict –> binge –> guilt cycle
for almost a YEAR
it’s not a nice place to be.
That’s exactly why I have made sure that all my online coaching programs
actually TEACH you about making the right choices, in the right portion sizes for you
whilst STILL allowing you to have the freedom to eat what you want, when you want it.
No restrictive diets.
No cutting out entire food groups (unless for medical reasons)
No meal replacement bullcrap.
Just bespoke, one to one coaching and advice that suits YOU and YOUR lifestyle…
So if you’re sat there wondering
what diet you should try next….and think that ‘clean eating’ sounds like a good option?
Please stop there and fill this out,
before you start making matters worse…
PS – I also used to think that I had to cut out CARBS
to lose weight.
All that made me do was CRAVE CRAVE CRAVE, feel dizzy and sick most of the time, AND have zero concentration!
Another reason why you really need to get
some help before making any rash decisions about your diet and your health…
