"December is a month where I'm typically bursting out of my clothes and feeling like a sloth due to eating and drinking too much. This December is different. I feel amazing! I'm two dress sizes smaller and 24 pounds lighter than I was this time last year. It's down to two things–discovering CrossFit and then having six months one to one nutrition coaching with Rachael.
I have always struggled with weight and have been round the block a fair few times with all the usual approaches; Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Slimfast and Celebrity Shakes etc. A particular low point was when I did the cabbage soup diet and hated the soup so much that I just didn't eat it, so I ate NOTHING...and that December I ended up in hospital.
Thanks to Rachael and her focus on eating quality food to nourish the body and mind, those days are a thing of the past. Rachael has taught me about the importance of not eliminating food groups, packing into my day as many vegetables and fruits as I can, eating enough protein to support my CrossFit habit and encouraging me to sleep far more than I was used to. I did actually know all these things already, but wasn't inspired enough to put them into practice. Rachael held me accountable for these things and they have transformed my approach to life.
She's helped me realise how interdependent these things are – if I eat badly, I train badly. If I don't train, it's harder to want to eat well. If I don't sleep enough, both eating and training suffer. I've finally got the balance right and doesn't feel difficult at all, it feels enjoyable and it is a relief to finally be out of the never ending lose weight/gain weight cycle.I still have a little way to go and am coming to the end of my coaching programme with Rachael but my new habits are ingrained and I have no doubt that I can achieve my goals.
